Obituary of Don A. Farwell

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Yorkton Hospital. He was 73 years of age. Donald Alexander Farwell was born on May 20, 1947 in Assiniboia. He was the third child of Gerald and Helen (Kwasnicki) Farwell. Don attended school at Montcalm then moved to Assiniboia school. Don attended the University of Saskatchewan taking Agriculture, however, did not finish as in his last year he was needed to help with the family farm. Don married Joyce Fitzpatrick on June 5, 1970. They made their home on the family farm as the third generation. They were blessed with two children, Crystal and James (Jimmy). In 2000, his family grew when Dwayne, his son-in-law, joined the crew. The absolute highlights of his life were the arrivals of his two grandchildren - Deagan in 2003 and Chaydin in 2006. Don and Joyce farmed in Assiniboia for many years, semi-retired to owning a Bed & Breakfast in Manitou Beach. He wasn't quite ready to give up his cattle, so they relocated to Goodeve and have been there ever since. Don was looking forward to retiring from the farm this fall and relocating to a lake property closer to Regina. He was thrilled with the idea of going boating and fishing with family and friends. Don was predeceased by his father, Gerald Farwell, his mother, Helen Farwell, his father-in-law, Earl Fitzpatrick, his mother-in-law, Mary (Marcotte) Fitzpatrick and his brothers-in-law Harold Bradish and Don Turko. Don was survived by his wife, Joyce, of 50 years, daughter Crystal, son-in law Dwayne and grandchildren Deagan and Chaydin and son Jimmy, girlfriend Stacy and her daughter Calla. He was also survived by his oldest brother Wilfred (Aline), sister Sharon (Wally), sister Janice (Barry), brother Al (Denise), sister Carla (Kim) and brother Dean. As well, his brother-in-law, Harry Fitzpatrick (Jean), his sister-in law, Doreen Fitzpatrick, his sister-in-law, Judy Bradish and his brother-in-law, Ron Fitzpatrick (Elma) and several nieces and nephews and many good friends. Don was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Service Details.
