Obituary of John Pawlust

John passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at the Ituna Pioneer Lodge at the age of 91. John Pawlust was one of four children born to John and Eva (Yakimoski) in the Abernethy/Balcarres area. On May 9, 1954 he was united in marriage to Steffa Leontowich. They farmed in the Ituna district until their retirement. Along with farming, John also drove school bus for a number of years. John's passions along the way were checking out the other farmer's crops, having coffee with his coffee buddies each day, feeding his many kitties, relaxing in the sun by the quonset with his dog by his side, and visiting with family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Steffa; and his brothers Mike and Walter. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Nancy (Terry), sons Larry (Grace) and Bob (Shelley); grandchildren Kris (Carrie), Josh (Erica) and Max (Sarah); great grandchildren Bennett, Paityn and Mason; sister Mary and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Ituna Pioneer Lodge for the care and kindness they showed for John and his family. A graveside service and interment took place on Tuesday, April 28th 2020 at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church Cemetery in Ituna with Fr. Michael Faryna officiating. Casketbearers were Kris (honorary) and Josh Miller, and Max, Sarah, Terry & Myron Pawlust. Crossbearer was Erica Miller.
