Obituary of Olga Fedyk

FEDYK - Olga Fedyk of Ituna passed away peacefully at the age of 93 at the Pioneer Lodge in Ituna surrounded by family. Olga (Stupak) Fedyk was born February 8, 1926 at the family home in the Hubbard District, Saskatchewan to Fred and Anne Stupak. She remained on the farm until her marriage to John Fedyk on July 20th, 1947 at the Ituna Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Olga and John started farming in the Homefield-Jedburgh District. In 1953 they moved to the farm in the Jasmin area where they continued to farm until 1978. Olga worked hard on the farm. She helped John with a lot of the farm work, milked cows for the cream cheque, raised chickens, sewed clothing, grew a big garden and put away enough food to feed the family for the winter. All the while raising their children and always being a wonderful hostess when company came, going down to the root cellar to get food to put together an amazing meal. In 1978 they built their new home and moved to Ituna, where Olga said "We intend to be here until the good Lord calls us to His eternal home". Olga continued to work for another ten years at the Ituna IGA supermarket which she often said was the highlight of her life. In Ituna she enjoyed going to church, being a member at the senior club, going fishing with John and others, baking raisin pies for the craft sale and visiting with friends, family and neighbours. Olga and John had 5 children: Julianna (Albert) Sawchuk of Prince Albert and family - Kevin (Heidi), Kelly, Kerwin (Nicole), Kristen, Kerry (Mandy) and their families; Rosemarie (Jim) Steadman of Greenwater Lake and family - Damon (Jodi) and family, and Jessica (Keith) and family; Donna Fedyk of Saskatoon; Randy (Joanne) Fedyk of Saskatoon and family - Leia (Zach); and Andy Fedyk. She is survived by her sister Nettie Kreway, sister in laws Dorothy Stupak and Olga Stupak, brother and sister in laws Anton and Vicki Fedyk and Lloyd and Marg Fedyk. Olga was predeceased by her parents, husband John, son Andy, grandson Kristen, sister Mary (Harry) Mytko, Eva (Steve) Sudyn, Annie (Joe) Fedyk, brothers John Stupak, Bill Stupak, and Pete Stupak. Baba will be dearly missed by all, including her children, grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grand children, and everyone who was touched by her loving heart. Prayers were held on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 and the Funeral Liturgy on Thursday, January 2, 2020, both services at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Rev. Father Jeffrey Stephaniuk as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ladmer Moskal, Wayne Boczulak and Heidi Spilchuk.
