Obituary of Praveen Ahuja

Praveen Ahuja, beloved husband of Kavita Ahuja, passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville, SK, on December 22, 2019, at the age of 75 years. Praveen was born in British India on February 6, 1944. He graduated with high honours from the Medical College in Physiotherapy, New Delhi, India, and immigrated to Canada in 1967 after practicing for a year as a locum in Britain and Scandinavia. Praveen attended the University of Toronto for Canadian graduation and licensing and then went on to continue post graduate studies in rehabilitation, physiotherapy and health care administration at the University of California at Berkley, John Hopkins in Baltimore and NW University in Chicago. He returned to Canada where he practiced his profession in Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan with eventual settlement at St. Peter's Hospital at Melville, SK over a decade ago. Praveen's admiration and gratitude for his friends in health care across Canada never ended, especially in Saskatchewan where he worked since 1971. Praveen dedicated his life to health care in Canada, especially for the benefit and recognition of smaller hospitals and special care homes in Saskatchewan. Quality and timely care for his patients and residents, regardless of their remote geographical location, was paramount in his heart. Praveen was a member of the Faculty and Senate at the University of Saskatchewan, a member of the American Academy of Health Care Administrators, executive member of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives and a member of the American College of Hospital Administrators. He was honoured with many awards and lectured for many healthcare organizations. He was invited by the US President Eisenhower's "People to People" tour of China to facilitate their healthcare institutions in obtaining appropriate standards for governance and quality of care. Praveen is survived by his loving wife, Kavita, two sons, two beautiful daughters in law and grandson in Chicago. As per Praveen's wishes there will be no memorial service.
