Obituary
Obituary of Donald Steven Kopeck
It is with heavy hearts we share the loss of Donald Steven Kopeck, a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and dear friend to many. Don was born September 25, 1967 in Yorkton Saskatchewan to Orest and Beatrice (Aichele) Kopeck and grew up and went to school in Melville Sk. At an early age he showed a wonderful talent for art which he pursued as an adult. He moved to Regina once he graduated from high school and worked at the Sheraton hotel. During his time in Regina he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia which he battled courageously and beat. He took the opportunity to move west and quickly became a part of a beautiful close knit community in the West End of Vancouver making many long time friends and acquaintances. He was a true believer in helping those in need and spent many hours volunteering in the community in which he lived and being involved with the charitable organization, "A Loving Spoonful"which provides meals to those who are living with HIV, AIDs and Hepatitis. His art developed as a reflection of who he was and several pieces of it are on display in the community in which he lived and worked. He contributed much of his artistic talent to the Vancouver Pride celebrations as well as provided creative decorations for different holiday celebrations for the Pump Jack bar, where he worked. The sudden passing of Don on December 10, 2019 has saddened all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to mourn his death, his dad; Orest Kopeck, siblings and their families; Lorraine Waldbauer (Nelson), children; Cory Waldbauer(Kerri), Garrett Waldbauer(Jennie), Tyler Waldbauer; Geri Kopeck, children; Graham Robinson, Jennifer Robinson; Darren Kopeck (Sylvia), children; Tyson Chaban (Deidre), Caytlin Kopeck, Brett Kopeck, Sydney Kopeck and several great nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles and cousins and many friends. He is predeceased by his beloved mother, Beatrice, his younger brother Terry and his paternal and maternal grandparents, several aunts and uncles. A celebration of life was held in his honour in Vancouver on December 18, 2019 in which his many friends, co-workers, acquaintances and some family members were in attendance. A funeral service and burial is taking place in Melville, Saskatchewan at a later date. Service Details.
