Obituary of Carl Jean Martin

Mr. Carl Martin of Yorkton, beloved husband of Pamela Martin passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the age of 69 years. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 25 from 7:00-9:00p.m. from Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00a.m. at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The interment will follow in the Yorkton City Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Carl Martin may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit, Yorkton Regional Health Centre. Carl Jean Martin was born on January 12, 1950 in San Clara, MB. He was raised and educated in the area. He worked at the Rocanville Mine with his brother Gary while it was being built. In 1979 he was employed at United Grain Growers. Shortly after he met the love of his life, Pam. They were married on February 9, 1980 during a blizzard. In March of that year Carla was born in Russell, MB. After a move to Yorkton, Vince joined the family in April of 1981 and Sherryce was born August of 1982. Another move to Willowbrook saw the addition of Brent in December of 1989. Then in May of 1991 Brett was born rounding out their five children. For the next 16 years while busy raising their family on farms, Carl and Pam also raised chickens and pigs. The last 6 years were spent in Yorkton. Carl enjoyed many activities with his family including fishing, which he always had fish frys. Hunting provided for his family with deer and rabbits. The annual camping trips to Upper Dam in the Manitoba forest, spent with large extended family members. Swimming with his children and chasing them under water was always fun. Many BBQ's were shared with family as well as a day drive and picnics. Carl always enjoyed shopping, with Walmart being his favorite. Fixing things not broken was a past time he enjoyed even if someone else had to fix it. Canasta was not a favorite but he ALWAYS played. In November of 2018 with his health starting to fail, Carl still enjoyed activities as long as he was able to get around. Carl was predeceased by his Mom, Lillian and son Vince. Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 39 years, Pam. His children Carla (Dave) Bodnar, Sherryce (Fredrick) English, Brent Martin and Brett (Ali) Martin. Brothers Gary (Anne) Martin and Joe (Leona) Martin. Carl spent many cherished moments with his grandchildren, Brenden (Alexandra), Taylor, Amie, Jason, Kevin, Jordan, Morgan, Amber, Jazzy and Step granddaughter Jessie and many nieces and nephews.
