Obituary of William "Bill" Stachowich

Mr. William "Bill" Stachowich of Melville, beloved husband of the late Carol Stachowich passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the age of 86 years. The Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11:00a.m. from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville. The interment will follow in the Melville Municipal Cemetery. William (Bill) Stachowich Nov 4, 1932 - October 17, 2019 (86 yrs) Bill was born at the family farm near Fenwood, SK November 4, 1932 to Steve and Mary (Lang) Stachowich. He attended school in Fenwood and loved playing baseball and hockey when he was young. Bill left home at 17 and was employed at a garage in Ontario. Bill was united in marriage to Carol Backman August 28, 1954 at the First United Church in Melville, SK. In the early years of marriage they lived in various small towns in Saskatchewan eventually settling in Melville in 1964. The couple was blessed with 2 sons, Edward and David. Bill started working for CN in 1954 as a track maintainer and later as a tractor operator. He retired from CN in 1989. Hardworking and dependable, Bill received an award for 33 years of work, "No Missed Time". Bill was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. His door and home was always open and gladly shared with family and friends who visited or needed a place to stay. He loved family gatherings, golfing, playing cards, camping, coaching ball, gardening, farming, carpentry, travelling and giving a hand when help was needed. After 60 years of marriage on May 7, 2015 his beloved wife Carol passed away. Bill kept himself busy by cooking, gardening and visiting the sick. He especially enjoyed his daily walks at the indoor walking track. Bill will lovingly be remembered and sadly missed by his sons Edward (Ila) of Melville, SK and David (Val) of Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren, Trina, James (Jen), Crystal (Terry), Kim (Mark), Darren, Brandon (Stacey), Garrett (Stephanie), Ainsley (Kyle); great Grandchildren, Ellie, Jack, Zoe, Addi and Olive; brothers, Jerry (Margaret), Ron (Marlene); his sister Betty (Len) and numerous in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his wife Carol; parents Mary and Steve Stachowich; brother Henry; sisters in law Mae and Leigh Stachowich and brother in law Ron. Special thanks to Dr Eshawesh.
