Obituary of John Marcus "Max" Baer
John Baer was born on June 25, 1937 at Grayson, Saskatchewan, son to Michael and Julia (nee Rieger) Baer. John received his education through Flegal School and helped his parents on the family farm. In 1957 John owned and operated his own commercial truck and hauled grain and other freight for area farmers as well as worked at the school bus garage part-time and drove fuel truck in the winter. In 1967 John began driving school bus fulltime and retired June 30, 2002, but continued to drive as a spare when needed. In 1982 while driving bus John took over the farming operation when his father quit farming. On July 3, 1969 John married Lois Vickers and made their home in Grayson but continued to farm from town. In 1952 John's father formed Harmony Stars Band where John played the saxophone and continued to play when he joined the Melville Rhythmaires in 1972, playing the saxophone, trumpet and guitar until it's disbanded in 1999 and then he joined the Country Sunshine band.
John and Lois continued to reside in Grayson until March 2016 when they moved into Melville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Grayson.
John entered his eternal rest on Friday, September 20, 2019 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville at the age of 82 years.
Predeceased by his parents, brother Danny and sisters, Annie in infancy and Elizabeth. John leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Lois and his many dear friends. Service Details.
