Obituary of Leonard "Len" Elaschuk

Leonard Elaschuk, husband of the late Suzanne Elaschuk, passed away on July 29. He was 67 years of age. Funeral Services will be held at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Center on Friday, August 2 at 11:00a.m. The Inurnment will take place in Trinity Columbarium, Yorkton Memorial Gardens. Memorial Donations may be made to Yorkton & District Nursing Home-Melody Manor, for use in the activities department. On November 16, 1951 William and Lillian Elaschuk welcomed their first child into the world - Leonard William Elaschuk. Eventually, Len was joined by a sister Linda - who he loved to pick on. The family was finally completed when the final son, Allen, joined the crew. Thus began the great hockey showdown between the two brothers. Len was forever loyal to his Montreal Canadians and, to his great dismay, Allan was a Leafs fan. Len met Suzanne Gray while they were both attending university. The pair were married February 24, 1979 in Regina, Saskatchewan. The couple settled down in Len's hometown of Yorkton. Their first child, Erin, was born on April 23, 1983. Then, almost 3 years later to the day, they welcomed their second daughter, Kim, who was born April 25, 1986 (and better known to Len as Kimbob). Len was a dedicated social worker throughout his life. He also loved to stay active. He enjoyed cross country skiing, baseball, and biking. If you couldn't find him on the racketball court, your best bet was to check the golf course. He had a passion for gardening, travel, and animals. Those who knew Len will miss his wry sense of humour, his larger than life personality, and his storytelling ability. He will be remembered forever by his two daughters - Erin of Yorkton and Kim (Jerett) of Regina. He will also be remembered by his sister and brother - Linda of Regina and Allen (Laurie) and their children Chris and Jay of Regina, as well numerous extended family members. He is predeceased by his parents William in 2000 and Lillian in 2016, and his wife Suzanne in 2018. Service Details.
