Obituary of Eugene Frederick Tanner

Eugene Frederick Tanner was born on November 18, 1955 at Esterhazy, SK, a son to Wilfred and Marjorie (nee Johnson) Tanner. Eugene grew up in Esterhazy and attended school there. When he finished school he went to work in Regina, from there he and a cousin decided to travel across Canada. This is when Evelyn's brother gave them a ride from B.C. to Alberta and later he met Evelyn. Eugene & Evelyn later moved to Yorkton. Eugene worked in various places, including Walmart, Kahkewistahaw Store, Painted Hand Casino and later at Gambler First Nation as a Band Manager & later in Addictions Counselling. When Eugene retired, he & Evelyn moved to Wroxton. Eugene brought his family together and was the glue that held them together. He was always kind, gentle, patient and a very good listener. He would help anyone any time of day or night. He loved nature, hunting, fishing and his dogs. Eugene leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Evelyn & their children; Katreena (Jeff) Widaiko, Nelson Johnson, Neil Tanner and Kelly Johnson along with nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His brothers and sisters and their families, Beverly (William), Ronald (Sylvia), Elmer, Donald, Delores (Lawrence), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Eugene was predeceased by his parents Wilfred & Marjorie, grandson, Andrew Tanner, brother Lawrence, brother-in-law Lawrence and sister-in-law Gail. Mr. Eugene Tanner of Yorkton, beloved husband of Evelyn Tanner, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the age of sixty-three years. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 31st, 7:00 - 9:00p.m. from the Chapel the Bailey's Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 1 at 2:00p.m. from Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The interment will follow in the Garden of St. Luke, Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
