Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Metro. 50 years ago, as a young fellow in Yorkton, I got enough courage up to approach a Stanley Cup Champion visiting at the Yorkton Arena. To my amazement, Metro was so humble and down to earth and spent at least 15 minutes talking hockey with me. I was thrilled. Last winter, while visiting Glenn Hall, Mr.Goalie and Hall of Famer, we called Metro and Glenn really enjoyed a great conversation with him. Glenn Hall later remarked that Metro, as a young junior hockey player, was the best junior player in Saskatchewan and probably all of Canada at that time. Quite a nice and sincere compliment from a hockey legend. RIP Metro. Thanks for the memories.

Sincerest sympathy to David, Karen, Jamie, Micheal and family. Metro and I bunked together with the Vogan family in Moose Jaw at ages of 17 with the canucks. We had many friendly encounters during summer months in Yorkton. The bank of Toronto transferred me to Edmonton in the early 60's when Metro was playing for the Edmonton Flyers. While he was recovering from a broken leg, I arranged as a banker for he and Clare Drake to buy Jiffy Java. They enjoyed this business for a few years until Metro decided to marry Evelyne Peppler. They acquired an insurance company in Wynyard where my wife Violet and I visited them often on our trips to Yorkton. Over the years Metro and I would chat on the phone as our birthdays were less than 1 month apart, he being a bit older but much wiser than me. Despite many sorrowful times in his life Metro remained cheerful and down to earth and a warm friendly guy. Our family is saddened by his passing, extra sympathies to his brother Harry, Dr. Gregg and Barb in Calgary. May God bless you all. Rest In Peace "Meatball".

I was saddened to hear of the passing of one of Hockey's greatest Legends. My condolences to David, Karen, Michael and James and their families. I knew Metro very well when I lived in Wynyard. Although, we hadn't seen each other in a number of years, Metro has been in the back of mind and I will always remember him. May he rest in peace.

The name of Metro Psystai I long remember as a young boy in Melville, Saskatchewan when he played hockey in the area. I recall those days when Sid Abel of Melville was the Coach for the Detroit Red Wings. Metro was a very skilled player. May the Lord left up His favor for your and give you Peace. May your many fond memories of him help to sustain yo throughout your life time and may his reunion with those who went before him be a joyous one. Sincerely, Russell Bartko formerly of Saskatoon and now of Canora, Sask.
