My deepest sympathies to all of Peter’s family. One of the personal highlights of my banking career was when Peter came in with his violin to play happy birthday for me. I can still hear that today. Peter was a kind man always up for a chat.

Like many of us … I spent my Senior Years at Sacred Heart High School and would often see Uncle Peter around the grounds since it was so close to St Mary’s Hall. The only time I might see him was when he was on a break. However, on his “break” instead of resting or eating lunch, he would be picking up litter in the parking lot that was carelessly left behind by patrons and students.
On one particular occasion I was with a group of friends and as we walked past I casually said, “ Hi Uncle Peter!” He looked up quickly to see who it was and smiled sheepishly. I know this isn’t normally like him and I sensed he felt a bit caught off guard since he was holding a pile of rubbish in his hands. I kept walking past so I didn’t embarrass him but my heart told me to go back. So I said goodbye to my friends, walked back and stood next to him and we continued picking up the rubbish together … not saying a word. When we finished I said goodbye and Uncle Peter smiled, with tears in his eyes and said, “I was really proud of what you did today, thank you Jodie.”
That was an unspoken moment between us that I never shared until now. It demonstrates what a thoughtful, kind and humble man he truly was/is and how a simple gesture can change someone’s life. Dear Uncle, you being so genuinely proud of me that day… changed my life. Thank you.
PS I heard the fiddle playing… you must be home. x

We remember when Uncle Peter played his fiddle at our dad's grave site when he passed on. It was extremely touching and still brings tears and a smile each time it comes to mind - it was beautiful. We are so saddened to hear about Peter. The Hunko family sends their condolences. I remember Peter coming to Moms Nursing Home room and playing for their 65th anniversary. He was so wonderful to them (John and Vicky) He always took dad out for coffee. That was such a blessing. Thank you Peter for caring about so many people. Love to the family ( From Cathy Shaw)

On behalf of the Denysek family, our sympathies to the Kobylka family. As our fathers were original members of the Country Lads, I shall always remember visiting each others homes as kids, the band getting together for jam sessions for as long as they could and the friendship our parents shared. I was lucky enough to be on Peter’s birthday call list and so enjoyed his rendition of Happy Birthday. I also remember Peter as manager of St. Mary’s Cultural Centre - he was also so accommodating our our needs when we booked the facility. May Peter’s memory be eternal.
