Obituary of Mel Biro

The family of Melvin George Biro of Melville, beloved husband of Shirley Biro, sadly announce his passing on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Melvin was 84 yars of age.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, December 6 at 1:00p.m. from  the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey presiding.

The inurnment will follow in the Garden of St. Matthew, Yorkton Memorial Gardens.

A memorial luncheon will follow the inurnment from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home and Cremation Care, Melville.

 

On September 3rd 1966, Mel was united in marriage to Shirley Cozens at Moosomin, Saskatchewan. The couple resided in Regina and various places where Mel worked as a Journeyman Electrician. In 1974 the couple moved to the Biro farm and in 2005 they moved into Melville.

As a boy Mel enjoyed hunting rabbits, gophers, crows, trapping muskrats and in his teenage years enjoyed playing baseball. Later Mel took up 10 Pin bowling and racing snow machines and trap shooting. After returning to the farm he played horseshoes, hockey and learned how to curl. He built an ice shack for ice fishing and cut and split wood for their wood burning stove.

He was a member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Alberta Trapshooting Association and International Brotherhood of Electrical workers.

Mel entered his eternal rest on Thursday, November 26, 2024 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville at the age of 84 years.

Predeceased by parents, George and Ruth; grand parents, John and Lillian Biro, Hewitt and Florence Ball; sister in law, Norma; brother in law, Doug; nephew Lee; great niece, Allisa; great nephew, Carston.

Mel leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Shirley; brother Doug Biro; sisters, Florence Bray, Frances Barnes, Lyla Ottoson and Colleen Biro; in laws Marje Dawson, Vic (Bonnie) Cozens and Eline (Bill) L’Heureux.
