Sophie was born and raised in Goodeve, Sk. Mom caught the travel bug early in life when one of her teachers asked her to accompany her back to Victoria, B.C. during Easter break.
Upon completion of her schooling mom went to Regina and enrolled in Normal School studying to become a teacher. The Normal School year book in 1942 read "Sophie Chlan, Goodeve, golden locks, eyes of blue. A friend so true". Mom taught at schools in Saskatchewan eventually landing in Lestock. Here she met Dad and they married in 1947 and settled in Leross raising 3 daughters. During this time Mom was very involved in the community, church and her children's activities. Mom was an amazing teacher, wife, mother and encouraged us to further our education. She grew a vegetable garden, but Mom's love was her beautiful flower garden. We enjoyed many bouquets all summer long. Her culinary skills were known to all who visited. We could be guaranteed a feast of perogies on "meatless Fridays". In her spare time Mom crocheted, knitted and sewed.
During their retirement Mom and Dad golfed, curled and travelled to warmer climates to escape some of the winter weather. In later years touring the sites of Saskatchewan. Mom was always up for a game of cribbage and loved to win. Family and friends were always welcomed to their home.
We will always miss you and think of you.
We love you Mom. Rest In Peace. Service Details.
