Obituary of Glen Pryslak

The family of Glen Pryslak sadly announce his passing on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the age of 51 years. A Private Family Graveside Service will take place in the Garden of St. Luke, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant, officiating. Glen Pryslak, son of Peter "Mervin" and Judy (nee Wincheruk) Pryslak and brother to Debra was born on April 21, 1969. Glen grew up in Calder on the family farm. While in Highschool he enjoyed badminton, hockey and a round of golf every now and then. The Crazy Calder Canuck Players (CCCP) created some great memories. After Graduation in 1987 he moved to Saskatoon to attend University of Saskatchewan and studied Agriculture for one year. When Glen realized that was not the career path he wanted he worked at various hotels until a trip to Winnipeg changed his career path completely. While he was visiting relatives, Glen dropped off applications in every funeral home in Winnipeg and even before he left town he was called back; however, he held out until the main funeral home he had hoped for finally called. Cropo hired Glen, paid for his education, and in 1992 he graduated with his embalming license. He worked at Cropo for 14 years and for Voyage Funeral Home, also in Winnipeg, for a few years after that. After separating from his wife, Margaret, Glen moved to Kelowna and worked for Springfield Funeral Home for 9 years. Glen returned to Yorkton in 2017. He was battling an addiction to alcohol for many years, and as a family we tried to battle with him and support him in his recovery. In September 2018 Glen began working at Superstore stocking grocery overnight. He enjoyed his coworkers and made some friends. One coworker even referred to Glen as Superman when they would finish a shift together. Glen loved watching all sports - especially the NFL and his Dallas Cowboys. He wouldn't miss a game and a dream come true was watching Dallas play a home game. He used to drive to Seattle to watch ball games. And he and Margaret used to love travelling throughout the USA to states such as Florida, California and Neveda, but the highlight for Glen was when they visited Graceland. On occasion, on a lot of occasions actually, Glen used to love to impersonate Elvis Presley. A very special trip was when he made his mom's dream come true by booking them a trip to Maui in 2013. His very good friend Rob Westfalls was delighted to host them and hang out with Glen. Glen made numerous trips to visit Rob in the States where he lived over the years. Some of the favorite memories are when Deb would pick up Glen and Cohen and they would attend Terrier games together, or go to the wave pool and down the waterslide at the Gallagher Centre on Friday Nights. The Superstore Social Club Events were fun too - bowling or swimming. Then there was the McDonald's coffee crew with Tamara and her family along with Lorilie - just all the cool kids. Glen is pre-deceased by his father Peter "Mervin" Pryslak, grandparents Wasyl and Louise Wincheruk and Alex and Mary Pryslak as well as aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother, Judy Pryslak; sister, Debra Pryslak; Auntie Nettie Bates and numerous cousins. Memorial donations may be made to the Yorkton Chapter of Al-Anon as gifts of remembrance.
