Obituary of Ronald "Ron" John Stewart

Mr. Ron Stewart of Morris House, Yorkton & District Nursing Home, passed away on Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at the age of 79 years. Ronald ‘Ronnie' John Stewart was born in Winnipeg, MB, on September 25, 1939. He was raised in Starbuck, Manitoba; child of Jack and Josephine Stewart; parents owned and operated the Starbuck General Store where the family including his younger brother and sister lived at the family business. Ron married Marilyn Gail Ostberg originally of Nipawin, SK on May 22nd, 1965 in Calgary, Alberta. Ron and Marilyn later resided in Starbuck, Manitoba where they helped operate the store when eldest daughter Darcee Lynn was born. Ron's family later resided in Dauphin, Manitoba where youngest child, Bobbi-Jo was born. Ron was a well known salesman in Dauphin where he worked for Murdoch Motors and later Case Power and Equipment. These days in Starbuck and Dauphin were the fondest of Ron's life memories. He was well known by many long-time friends and customers all around the area in his travels. Ron continued on his path with a few hardships losing his wife Marilyn at an early age in 1981. He eventually settled in Prince Albert, Sk. for the long term where he again made many loyal friends and customers and in his later years retired from Northland Trucks International. Ron was an avid gardener, a great cook, loved to take in jazz festivals, faithfully waited each year for berry and mushroom picking time, loved to play cards, enjoyed hunting and fishing, cookouts, camping and was known for his great dance moves always looking forward to "cocktail hour" with his buddies during all of these years. Ron's final years were spent living in Yorkton, SK to be near family where he was able to spend good, quality time with his grandkids there. Unfortunately, his health declined quickly, but he fought his battles with courage. Ron passed away with his family near on May 11, 2019 at Morris House, Yorkton District Nursing Home at the age of 79 years. We will forever remember and miss him for his comical wit, wise advice and his very generous heart. Ron is lovingly remembered by daughter Darcee Stewart (Calvin) and children Bri-Anne, Christina, and Stephanie and daughter Bobbi-Jo Drosky (Shane) and children Aiden and Kaylee, sister Audrey, nephew Danny(Heather) Simmons, and niece Pamela Simmons. He was predeceased by his mother Josephine Stewart, father Jack Stewart, his wife Marilyn, and brother-in-law Joe Simmons. Cremation has taken place, the interment will take place in the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Services & interment will be held in Dauphin at a later date.
